The Outpost

We deliver our award-winning connectivity service through our industrial grade router, 'The Outpost'. Custom designed and built in-house specifically for demanding environments, The Outpost is available as a rack mounted or desktop appliance.
Each unit contains a minimum of four independent 4G and 5G modules, forming a single durable superfast connection. Using these multiple modules ensures that we provide you with the best available connection. Where a greater level of support is required, our fixed-line options can further enhance your connection.

The Appliance

Our Outpost hardware is designed to be powerful, scalable and adaptable to suit any requirement.

Design

Built to withstand harsh environments, our Outpost is assembled in a protective steel enclosure and can be supplied in integrated desktop and modular rackmount form factors.  As we design and build all Outposts inhouse, we can customise them to suit many requirements, including outdoor IP-rated cases and handheld carry cases for maximum portability.

Connectivity

All Outposts come 4G-enabled, with up to 8 dedicated 4G (LTE-A) connections and can be equipped with additional connectivity modules to support 5G, fibre, copper, low earth orbit satellite and more at speeds of up to 10Gbps.

Capability

“Not just another router”, the Outpost is a fully functional Intel server with the ability to run additional workloads as virtual machines.  This could include Windows servers, DVR’s or your preferred vendor firewall.

FAQs

We have multiple automated systems that continually watch your connection, looking at uptime, active connections, speeds, latency and more.
As standard, it requires a 230V AC power source although it does also contain a battery backup built-in.
We work with all the major connectivity suppliers. For mobile, we use BTEE, Vodafone, Three and O2 while our fibre is provided through dozens of networks including Openreach and CityFibre.
Depending on the model of Outpost, the battery can last anywhere from 1 to 8 hours.
We can provide Outpost with a static public IP address which can be used on your existing firewall. Alternatively, we can run your firewall virtually with the Outpost itself.
The built-in Wi-Fi can cover 100m2 but this is very dependant on obstructions and walls. For larger areas, we will typically specify and install a number of Wi-Fi access points to create coverage areas as large as are needed.
Whichever carriers we determine to have the best performance at the point we install. We don’t’ determine in advance, we look at real world results and make a decision based on that.
We have previously delivered fast connections in places where phone calls are impossible, thanks to our durable hardware and highly trained installation staff.
We will usually install where the mobile signal is at it’s best, although we can install Outpost centrally and use external antennae to get the best signal.
Only one, although through our Hybrid technology it is possible to not only aggregate multiple connections but multiple Outposts to further increase performance.
